ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The No. 21 UCF women's soccer team made quite a statement in Friday's home exhibition 2-0 win over No. 9 Florida. For the first time since 1982, the Knights topped the Gators on their home field.

Two newcomers were responsible for both goals to give Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak an auspicious start as UCF's head coach.

Freshman Lena Petermann rebounded junior Jennifer Martin's attempt in the 27th minute to put one past Florida keeper Nora Neset Gjoen.

Junior transfer Tatiana Coleman floated a ball over Florida keeper Taylor Burke from long distance to add an insurance goal in the 54th minute.

Goalkeeper Lianne Maldonado came up with a big save down the stretch, tipping Savannah Jordan's attempt in the 82nd minute to secure the shutout.

UCF will travel to Honolulu, Hawai'i for its season opener against Washington on Aug. 23 in the No Ka Oi Tournament.

The soccer scarf is back for season ticket holders. For $30, fans will receive a special scarf, which will serve as one-general admission seat to all 2013 regular season home matches. The GOLD Pass, which includes one general admission seat for all home men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, softball, women's basketball and track & field events, is available for $90.
