ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF women's tennis head coach Stephanie Nickitas has announced Bogna Nowicka has signed on to compete for the Knights this fall. Nowicka travels to Orlando out of Swarzedz, Poland, where she has racked up numerous honors in her career.
"We are very pleased to announce that Bogna Nowicka will be joining our team this fall," Nickitas said. "Bogna has a very strong baseline game and a weapon on her backhand side. She will be a great addition to our team, and we are thrilled she chose to become a Knight."
Competing in Poland, Nowicka earned a third-place finish in singles, doubles and mixed doubles at the 2012 national championships. That same year, she grabbed first place in doubles and third in singles in the national junior championships. In 2011, Nowicka claimed first in both doubles and mixed in the same tournament, while in 2010 she secured a third-place finish in singles and first in doubles in the national championships.
Nowicka competed for the AZS Poznan club team in 2012, where she helped it win the Team Championships of Poland last year. In International Tennis Federation play, she headed to Croatia and nabbed a third-place performance in doubles, and picked up second in doubles in the ITF Juniors Magnolia Cup.
AZS Poznan also shined in 2011 where it was second in the Junior Team National Championships, and Nowicka was a National Juniors Team selection. A high honor came when she was awarded for being the best tennis player and student by the Mayor of Poznan. She also snatched the Golden Racket accolade for being the most popular junior tennis player at the Porshe Open Men's Challenger.
Nowicka graduated from Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace w Swarzedzu at the high school level, and lived in Swarzedz her whole life.
