ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Ashley Holder will join the UCF women's golf program when school starts in August. But first, she'll have the opportunity to take part in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship.
Holder, an Orlando native and Lake Nona High School graduate, carded a score of 72 Monday at the Quail Ridge Country Club South Course in Boynton Beach, Fla. during the qualifying tournament there. That score tied her for third in the event and was good enough to grab one of the nine spots up for grabs.
The U.S. Women's Amateur is scheduled to take place August 5-11 at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C.
Holder recently took medalist honors in the stroke-play portion of the Florida State Golf Association Amateur Championship. She is a former district champion and district runner-up for Lake Nona High School. Holder also won an FHSAA regional championship during her prep career. She is a two-time Metro Conference Champion. She is a three-time qualifier for the USGA Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and won the 2010 Florida State Golf Association Match Play Championship for ages 13-18.
