NEWPORT, R.I. (UCFAthletics.com) - A league's media day primarily caters to journalists getting a vast amount of information and interviews to help them cover the upcoming season. Before the American Athletic Conference kicks off its media day Tuesday, it catered to an even more important element: food.

All 10 programs and media from across the country gathered at Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island Monday evening for the league's annual clambake. Representing UCF were Head Coach George O'Leary, junior quarterback Blake Bortles and senior offensive linemen Jordan McCray and Justin McCray.

"We have an awesome view (of the water) at the clambake, the people are great and the food is fantastic. I couldn't believe it, so mouthwatering. And the hospitality has been great as well," Bortles said. "We've also talked to guys on every team, interacted with them and formed some new relationships."

With their stomachs full, the Knights will rest before officially meeting with the media Tuesday morning at the Hotel Viking in Newport. Due to the team reporting that evening in Orlando and holding its first practice Wednesday, UCF will leave right after sitting down with ESPN for taped interviews at 10:15 a.m.

To keep track of all of the action in Rhode Island, follow the Knights on Twitter at @UCF_Football or the hashtag #AmericanKickoff. Fans can follow the league office at @American_FB as well.

Plan your game days this fall with the Knights and experience one of the best schedules in program history. Season tickets, starting at $99, guarantee both the South Carolina & USF match-ups.

And games are better in groups. Groups of twenty (20) or more are available for all home games at a 20% discounted price.
