ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF women's soccer alum Tishia Jewell recently made the first cut for the NCAA Woman of the Year award selection process. The former All-American forward is one of two Conference USA candidates in consideration for the honor.
Jewell is in the running with more than 140 NCAA female student-athletes representing multiple sports across NCAA Divisions I, II and III.
In August, the Woman of the Year selection committee will select the top 10 honorees in each division from this pool to be recognized. In September, the selection committee will announce the top nine finalists (three from each division), and the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will vote from among those finalists to determine the 2013 Woman of the Year.
On Oct. 20 in Indianapolis, the NCAA will announce the 2013 Woman of the Year and will honor the top 30 nominees.
Jewell and Altrese Hawkins (Memphis volleyball) are C-USA's lone representatives for 2012-13. Jewell is a Senior CLASS Award winner, an NSCAA All-American and academic All-American, UCF's career assists leader and a three-time all-conference selection.
