ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Less than a week away from preseason camp kicking off, members of the UCF football team will travel north to Rhode Island for the first edition of the American Athletic Conference media day. The Knights will meet with the media on Tuesday at the Hotel Viking in Newport, R.I.
Beginning his 10th year with UCF, Head Coach George O'Leary along with junior quarterback Blake Bortles and senior offensive linemen Jordan McCray and Justin McCray will represent the Knights during the trip.
On Tuesday, Coach O'Leary will speak at the podium at approximately 9:30 a.m., while the Knights will then meet with TheAmerican.org for website footage. They will close out the morning at 10 a.m. by taping interviews with ESPN.
To follow all of the action in Rhode Island, follow the Knights on Twitter at @UCF_Football or the hashtag #AmericanKickoff. Fans can follow the league office at @American_FB as well.
Also, visit the American Athletic Conference Media Day Central Page.
Meanwhile, the conference's digital coverage will have a live three-hour show hosted by John Rooke and Pete Brock where each team's head coach will appear on set. For the direct link: CLICK HERE.
And ESPN3 will be carrying the live show as well as running a dedicated camera on the podium session.
Before media day takes place, the American will hold a traditional clambake for all of the programs, television partners and bowl officials at Fort Adams State Park Monday evening.
UCF will have to cut its trip short, though, in order to make it back to Orlando as the team reports on campus Tuesday evening and opens preseason practices Wednesday, July 31. The Black and Gold starts practices before any other team in the conference (UConn and Rutgers get their camps going on Aug. 2).
Plan your game days this fall with the Knights and experience one of the best schedules in program history. Season tickets, starting at $99, guarantee both the South Carolina & USF match-ups.
And games are better in groups. Groups of twenty (20) or more are available for all home games at a 20% discounted price.
