DES MOINES, Iowa (UCFAthletics.com) - A day after clocking two personal records and etching her name in the NCAA record book in the 100 meters, UCF's Aurieyall Scott proved she wasn't finished making headlines yet at the USA Senior Track and Field Championships.
Scott automatically qualified for the 200-meter semifinals with a personal-best time of 22.46 (+1.5). Although the wind was a major factor in all of the other heats, it died down enough for Scott to top her own school record.
She finished second in her heat to Nike's LaShauntea Moore - an Olympian and the 2007 World Championships bronze medalist - and sixth overall to ensure her place in Sunday's semifinals at 3:22 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. The top four of each heat will compete in the finals at 5:20 p.m. on NBC.
Octavious Freeman scratched from the 200M in order to focus on her signature event, the 100M, which she earned silver in Friday to secure her spot on Team USA for the World Championships in Russia in August.
Running for Saucony, UCF alum Jackie Coward automatically qualified for the 100-hurdles final after clocking a wind-aided 12.69 (+2.8) in the semifinals. She finished eighth with a time of 13.07 (+1.2) in a historic race as Brianna Rollins set the new American record (12.26) for the gold medal.
