ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The Venue at UCF has a new look as workers recently completed refurbishing the Knights' volleyball court. The court now features a hardwood floor with the stacked UCF logo prominently at center court.
There just are not very many programs in the country that have a wood floor dedicated solely for volleyball, head coach Todd Dagenais said. It says a lot about the support we get from our athletic department and our administration to have a dedicated volleyball floor in a facility that's essentially volleyball only. These are the types of things that visually demonstrate to recruits exactly what kind of commitment there is to us becoming and staying a nationally-recognized program.
The new design also includes volleyball-specific lines as well as the @UCF_Volleyball twitter handle and #ChargeOn hash tag along the sidelines.
The Knights open their inaugural campaign in The American in 2013 excited to be playing on a refurbished court that was designed to specifically fit UCF volleyball's specifications.
A wood floor is something we've always wanted since we've been here," Dagenais continued. "The old wood floor that was in The Venue when we got here was damaged and that made it too dangerous to play volleyball on for a full season. That's why we made the decision to use Sport Court the last several seasons. We were lucky and were able to take a relatively new floor that's in terrific shape, have it sanded down and repainted with volleyball-only lines. It's something that's very special for our program.
