Game Notes - Memphis

HOUSTON, Texas (UCFAthletics.com) - The final Conference USA Championship for the UCF baseball team is set to get underway Wednesday afternoon at 12 p.m. EDT when the No. 5 Knights begin pod play against No. 4 Memphis from Reckling Park on the campus of Rice.

It will be the third all-time meeting between the two teams in the C-USA Championship as the Tigers (33-23) won in 2007 and Knights (29-27) returned the favor in 2011. UCF will look to avenge its lone series sweep in C-USA this year when the two teams kickoff the 8-team, two-pod tournament.

The Knights will also battle top-seeded host Rice on Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT and No. 8 UAB Friday at 8 p.m. EDT in their pod. Should they own the best record in the pool, they will advance to Sunday's championship game at 2 p.m. EDT on CBS Sports Network.

UCF will turn to ace RHP Ben Lively (7-4, 1.71 ERA) who suffered a 2-1 loss to the Tigers back on April 5 while pitching a complete game with the two runs coming on wild pitches. The Gulf Breeze native is coming off the best start in his career in which he tossed a four-hit shutout at East Carolina last week.

He will once again be matched up with LHP Sam Moll (8-3, 2.38). The pair on quality arms was recognized by C-USA on Tuesday with Lively earning Second Team All-Conference honors, while Moll landed on the first team.

All of the action from Reckling Park can be seen on the C-USA Digital Network, and Marc Daniels will be calling the opening contest on 740-AM The Game.
