OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF rowing team capped a successful 2013 season at the Conference USA Women's Rowing Championships Saturday on Melton Hill Lake with an eighth place finish. The Knights scored 25 team points and topped squads from Tulsa, Alabama and SMU.
Senior Camille Everett was honored by making the All-Conference Team for the first time. Everett has one year of eligibility remaining and will compete for the Knights as a fifth-year senior next season.
In the three scoring races, UCF took fourth in the First Varsity 8, fifth in the Second Varsity 8 and fourth overall in the Varsity 4.
Oklahoma earned the team title by taking gold in the Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+, while placing second in the Varsity 8+ behind Texas. Tennessee finished as the runner-up as the Lady Volunteers took home silver in the Second Varsity 8+ and Varsity 4+, and bronze in the Varsity 8+.
The Knights' V8 team of Ginni Dunlop, Calena Illan, Brianne Addison, Camille Everett, Angelie Denizard, Olivia Staples, Carly Burleson, Alison Ponce and Heather Hart won the petite final over Tulsa, Old Dominion, Alabama and SMU with a time of 6:48.74
UCF picked up three fourth place finishes in the morning prelims. With racing getting underway at 9 a.m. the V8 finished with a time of 6:49.73, the 2V8 came in at 7:04.28, the V4 topped out at 7:52.18. The Knights' Novice 8 team finished second in the prelims with a time of 7:10.38.
