ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF football delivered a 10-4 record, a Conference USA East Division title, a victory in the Beef `O' Brady's Bowl and the seniors went out as the winningest senior class in school history. But what was even more impressive was the Knights tackling their academics in 2012-13.

Fall 2012:
-3.095 overall team GPA - highest for a fall term under Head Coach George O'Leary, who took over the program in 2004
-67 players with a 3.0 GPA or above, which included seven Knights who had a 4.0, marking the highest amount for a fall term since 2004-05
-Lyle Dankenbring was a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy which honors the nation's best football scholar-athlete, and he also was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Second Team
-Ray Shipman received a spot on the C-USA All-Academic Team

Spring 2013:
-2.954 overall team GPA - highest for a spring term under Coach O'Leary
-54 players with a 3.0 or above, which included three Knights who had a 4.0, marking the second-highest amount for a spring term since 2004-05
-10 student-athletes graduated, which included one from grad school
-Three former student-athletes came back to graduate

Fall and Spring:
-Average GPA is a 3.024 - highest average for two consecutive terms since 2004-05 (Last July, UCF received the C-USA Sport Academic Award for having the highest team GPA of all 12 C-USA football programs)

Summer 2013:
-Four former players are set to graduate

Also this spring, Dankenbring, Shipman and Troy Davis were named to the 2013 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions who each maintained a 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. They also have to be a starter or a significant substitute in one's last year of eligibility.

UCF was one of 22 FBS programs to have at least three student-athletes named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society.
