OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (UCFAthletics.com) - Two days before competition opens at the Conference USA Championship, league officials announced Thursday that UCF's Heather Hart was selected to the C-USA Rowing All-Academic Team. The senior boasts a 3.99 cumulative grade point average and is pursuing a degree in business finance and economics.
The C-USA all-academic rowing team consists of student-athletes who have earned a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or better and are a key contributor to their team. This year's squad each compiled a GPA of 3.5 or better, averaging an impressive 3.88.
Hart began the season as coxswain of the Second Varsity 8+ boat and was promoted early in the season to the Varsity 8+ boat. The V8 squad led by Hart beat a pair of conference rivals in SMU and Old Dominion during the 2013 spring season. She has earned a 4.0 every semester but one during her collegiate career.
She is a three-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and is a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
The UCF rowing team is set to compete at the C-USA Rowing Championship May 18 on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
