AUBURN, Ala. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 44-ranked UCF women's golf team wrapped up its 2012-13 season at the NCAA East Regional Championship Saturday. The Knights finished the 24-team tournament, held at the Auburn University Club, in a tie for 15th. The top eight teams advanced to the NCAA Championships.
UCF tallied its best score of the tournament in Saturday's third and final round. The Knights posted a 292 (+4) and climbed the leaderboard from 21st place to their final spot tied with No. 26 Notre Dame. UCF finished the Regional in front of No. 47 Penn State and No. 38 Texas State.
No. 2 Alabama won the regional championship at -20 for a three-round total of 844.
Robyn Doig led the way for the Knights. She tallied a 3-under 69 in Saturday's final round, climbing all the way to a tie for 35th place, after starting the day tied for 74th. Doig was +5 for the tournament. Kaitlyn Price finished the day tied for 74th, after carding a 1-under 71 Saturday. She finished the tournament +12. Paola Robles was tied for 83rd, finishing the event at +13, while Carolin Pinegger was tied for 91st at +16. Monifa Sealy rounded out the UCF contingent at +21 and tied for 105th.
