ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's tennis team (12-6) has a pair of local matches during the final week of the regular season. The Knights will head to DeLand Wednesday to face off with Stetson at 2:30 p.m. before facing No. 25 Notre Dame Saturday at 2 p.m. at the UCF Tennis Complex.
Saturday's match will be the final home contest for seniors Jenna Doerfler and Genevieve Lorbergs. A native of Winter Park, Doerfler boasts 12 singles wins this year including six at the No. 2 position. Over in doubles, she has partnered with Sofia Baptista during the spring season for a 10-6 record at No. 3.
For Lorbergs, the Australian carries a 19-12 singles mark and is 13-4 at the top spot. That has been highlighted by a current five-match winning streak. Lorbergs and Josephine Haraldson also have been dominant at the No. 1 doubles position where the duo is 12-4 this spring and 19-9 for the season.
Stetson enters Wednesday with a 9-8 record, and has fallen in its last three outings. Andrea Crespo is 9-4 at No. 1 singles, while Diana Bukajeva leads the team with 14 victories. As a team, the Hatters are 26-24 in doubles play.
Following a close 4-3 loss to then-No. 36 Memphis, Notre Dame is 12-8 on the year with defeats in three of its last four contests. The Fighting Irish are led by No. 40 Britney Sanders in singles, and in doubles the pair of Sanders and Julie Sabacinski are ranked No. 62 with Jennifer Kellner/Christine McGaffigan sitting at No. 60.
All-time, UCF trails in the series with Stetson, 26-21, and this will be the first meeting against Notre Dame.
After this week, the Knights travel to the University of Houston for the 2013 Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship April 18-21.
