PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 41-ranked UCF women's golf team moved up the leaderboard in Tuesday's third and final round of the Marsh Landing Invitational, hosted by Jacksonville University at Marsh Landing Country Club.
By the time the dust settled, the Knights had cruised into a top-five finish in the 20-team event. UCF was in ninth after the first round and eighth after the second. Tuesday's team score of 293 was a four-stroke improvement over both the first and second round totals of 297.
Monifa Sealy paved the way for UCF with a very consistent showing at Marsh Landing. The Trinidad & Tobago native shot three consecutive 1-over rounds of 73 to finish the tournament at 3-over and tied for 11th place.
Carolin Pinegger was tied for 31st, after finishing the tournament +7. She shot an even-par 72 in Tuesday's final round. Robyn Doig was +8 for the event and finished tied for 36th. Kaitlyn Price was 11-over for the tournament and finished in a tie for 49th to wrap up the UCF scoring. Paola Robles was also taking part, with a three-round total of +14, good enough to tie for 63rd. Mary Mulcahy took part as an individual, finishing 97th at +27.
No. 14 Purdue took the top spot, while No. 28 Iowa State, No. 17 Texas Tech, No. 47 Florida State and the Knights made up the remainder of the top five.
Up next for UCF are the C-USA Championships, which are set for April 22-24 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
