AUGUSTA, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF junior Greg Eason began Sunday's final round tied for the lead at the Insperity Augusta State Invitational. He finished Sunday's final round tied for the lead, as well.
Eason was tied with Coastal Carolina's Sebastian Soderberg at -7 after three rounds of play. The two went to a playoff, with each tallying a birdie on the first playoff hole. But Soderberg birdied the next hole and Eason was unable to match that tally. It was the second consecutive runner-up finish for Eason and his fifth Top 10 placement of the season.
As a team, UCF finished in a tie for 10th in the 15-team event, going 23-over as a team. The Knights wrapped up play in front two Top 25 teams. Meanwhile, sixth-ranked Texas took the team title as the only team to finish under par (-1). Host school Augusta State was second at +1, while No. 17 Georgia was third at +2.
Other individuals taking part for UCF were McCabe Buege (+10, 53rd place), Ricardo Gouveia (+11, Tie 54th), Kyle Wilshire (+13, Tie 62nd) and Jose Joia (+15, Tie 68th).
Up next for the Knights are the C-USA Championships, which are set for April 21-23 in Texarkana, Ark.
