AUGUSTA, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF junior Greg Eason shot back-to-back rounds of 2-under Saturday at the Insperity Augusta State Invitational. At 4-under for the tournament, being played at Forest Hills Golf Club, Eason is tied for the individual lead.
As a team, UCF is in 11th place at +22. Host school Augusta State leads the tournament at even par after two rounds, while No. 6 Texas (+2) and No. 17 Georgia (+4) round out the top three in the 15-team event. The Knights shot 16-over in the first round, but rebounded to go just six-over in the second round.
Eason was 3-over after his front nine. However, he brought his first round home strong, recording birdies on five of the final nine holes to go 2-under. In the second round, Eason recorded an eagle, a double bogey and a bogey to be +1 at the turn. However, he was solid on the back nine again, tallying three birdies to move to 4-under and grab a share of the lead.
McCabe Buege and Jose Joia are both 8-over and tied for 50th place. Buege shot back-to-back rounds of 76 (+4), while Joia opened with a 79 (+7), but came back with a 73 (+1) in the second round. Ricardo Gouveia was the final scoring competitor for UCF after the first two rounds. At 10-over, he is tied for 58th. Kyle Wilshire is tied for 69th at +12.
