ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 12 UCF track and field team travels north to Gainesville this weekend for the 69th Annual Pepsi Florida Relays at the Percy Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.
The USTFCCCA's "Meet of the Week" marks the team's first road trip of the outdoor season, and the Knights are ready to challenge some of the nation's best. UCF is one of six top-25 women's programs that will be present at the meet: No. 4 Florida, No. 6 Texas, No. 14 Baylor, No. 19 Georgia and No. 25 USC.
The official Twitter hashtag for the Pepsi Florida Relays is #FLRelays and @UCF_Track will be providing updates on Friday and Saturday. Live video streaming can be found exclusively on Flotrack. The live stream will be available to all Flotrack Pro members. Live results for the meet may be found at www.deltatiming.com.
Friday's field events begin at noon with the discus and the 100 hurdles will start the track events at 12:30 p.m. Action resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. with the hammer.
Last year, Octavious Freeman set a Relays record in the 100M in her outdoor collegiate debut. As the only collegian in her heat, she blew by her professional competitors with a then- world-leading time of 11.10 (+1.2) to automatically qualify to compete at the 2012 Olympic Trials. The performance appeared on SportsCenter's top-10 plays.
