GULF SHORES, Ala. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team is 10 strokes off the lead and in third place after the first round of the Conference USA Championship, being held at The Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club.
The No. 44-ranked Knights were 13-over for the day Monday, good enough to put them in third place. No. 20 Tulane (+3) leads the tournament, while No. 48 East Carolina (+5) is currently second. No. 33 SMU (+14), Tulsa and Memphis (+16) round out the top six in the 11-team event.
UCF was paced by Monifa Sealy Monday. The sophomore carded a first-round score of 73 (+1). Sealy sits just three strokes back of a pair of East Carolina golfers, who turned in first-round scores of 70 (-2). The Knights' Paola Robles was just one stroke behind Sealy. She recorded a first-round score of 74 to sit in a tie for eighth at +2.
Robyn Doig and Carolin Pinegger rounded out the scoring for UCF in the first round. Both shot scores of 77 (+5) in the first round to put themselves in a tie for 23rd. Kaitlyn Price was +6 on Monday and tied for 32nd.
