ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - There will be plenty of red, white and blue mixed with black and gold camouflage this weekend at the UCF baseball complex when the Knights return to Conference USA action against Marshall for a three-game set.
The weekend promotions begin Friday with Camo Knight as the first 200 student through the gates will receive a free UCF camouflage shirt prior to the 6:30 p.m. start time. There will also be a raffle taking place where one lucky fan will win an authentic UCF camo baseball jersey.
On Saturday, the Knights (20-18, 6-6) will don their camo jerseys and pay tribute to all active and retired military personnel on Military Appreciation Day with a 4 p.m. first pitch. The first 250 military personnel in attendance will receive a free T-shirt, while also gaining free admission after presenting ID at the gameday ticket booth.
After taking two-of-three last weekend against No. 14 Rice, UCF will look to continue its upward play in the league with Chris Matulis (4-2, 3.33 ERA) and Ben Lively (5-3, 1.09 ERA) getting the nod on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
The duo last weekend in Houston both put forth strong outings on the mound as Matulis went a career-best 8-plus innings while surrendering just one earned run in the Friday night win. Lively, despite giving up four runs through the first three innings, settled down and put up four-straight zeros to keep the Knights in contention before they ended up winning 11-7 in the 12th.
The Thundering Herd (13-22, 3-6) will send LHP Wayland Moore (2-1, 4.56 ERA), RHP Aaron Blair (5-2, 2.40 ERA) and RHP Michael Taylor (3-3, 3.38 ERA) to the mound.
All of the action from this weekend can be heard on 740-AM The Game with Marc Daniels on the call. Pregame starts 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
