ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team will travel to Gulf Shores, Ala. for the Conference USA Championship, which begins Monday at the Peninsula Golf Club. Head coach Emily Marron says the Knights are shooting for a C-USA Championship in their final appearance in the event, a feat UCF has not accomplished during its eight-year tenure in the league.

Every team gets excited for postseason play and our team is looking forward to competing for a Conference USA title, Marron said. The team has played well throughout the year and we are excited to have the opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championship through an at-large bid, but a Conference USA trophy is what we want in our hands next week.

The Knights matched their best finish ever at the Conference USA Championships on the same course last year, when they were runners-up to Tulsa. UCF comes into the C-USA Championships with a No. 42 ranking in the nation, third-best among league squads. Tulane is No. 20, while SMU is No. 33. East Carolina is also in the Top 50 at No. 47. Those four teams would seem to be among the favorites.

Conference USA is very strong and we will have to be at our best to win, Marron said. Three of our five have played the course before and they feel comfortable with their game plans, which should play in our favor. We know in the postseason anything can happen and we will bring our best effort to Gulf Shores and see where we finish.

The five referenced by Marron will be comprised of Robyn Doig, Carolin Pinegger, Kaitlyn Price, Paola Robles and Monifa Sealy - the same lineup UCF has sent out to the course for much of the spring.

The C-USA Championship will be a 54-hole event, with 18 holes played Monday-Wednesday. Follow along with live scoring, by clicking here.
