ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF softball team is set to host UTEP in a three-game series beginning with a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m. followed by an 11 a.m. Sunday contest. Before the first pitch on Saturday, the Knights (18-21, 1-11 Conference USA) will welcome the Friends of Jaclyn for a Spring Carnival that will consist of games where kids can have fun and win prizes.
The purpose of the Spring Carnival is to raise money for the Friends of Jaclyn, a foundation started in 2004 that works to improve the quality of life for children with pediatric brain tumors. The fundraising goal is $1000 and UCF plans to reach that goal through donations for carnival tickets. A five-dollar donation will yield 15 tickets that can be used to play games like the softball speed pitch challenge, a water dunk tank and a basketball scoring contest along with many others. Each game is a guaranteed winner providing a small prize for the participants. The best part of the entire day is they all carnival attendees get to watch the Knights take on the Miners (12-19, 1-7 C-USA) immediately following the festivities.
