ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF volleyball team hits the road this weekend as it travels south to Miami for its final spring action of 2013. The Knights will scrimmage all day Saturday against the Hurricanes, USF and Florida Gulf Coast. This is the last opportunity for the Knights' retuning players to show their skills before recruits, transfers and walk on athletes join the squad this summer.
This is our fourth and final weekend of spring volleyball, head coach Todd Dagenais said. What that means is that this is the last opportunity for our players to leave an impression about what they want their roles to be for next season. Returning players always have an advantage, especially when they leave a great impression. This is their chance to leave the best possible impression on us to get on the floor when fall camp starts.
Fans that are in the Miami area can check out all the action as admission is free to all fans. Dagenais knows the level of competition in Coral Gables will be an excellent test for his squad as they look to put a bow on spring action.
We expect Miami to be a top 15 team next year, Dagenais continued. The fact we are able to play USF who is going to be our travel partner and conference rival is huge. Any time we step on the floor with them, even in a scrimmage, it's real. Florida Gulf Coast was the A-Sun regular season title last year and we expect them to be the champion of their conference again. It's a really important weekend for us to do well given the level of competition.
