ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team will defend its home court Thursday when it takes on Bethune-Cookman. First serve is at 2 p.m. at the UCF Tennis Complex and admission is free.
Although the Knights hold a notable 7-2 record at home this season, they were blanked 7-0 in their previous match against No. 63 UNC-Wilmington on Saturday.
The loss dropped UCF's overall record to 10-7 on the season with six of those defeats coming against nationally ranked squads.
"I am looking to see how our team rebounds after playing poorly on Saturday," UCF head coach Bobby Cashman said. "This is a true test to see how we face adversity and if we can overcome it."
Matthew Gladstone has had the hot racquet lately as he won 7 of his last 10 matches, boosting his victory total to a team best 15. Francesc Aulina and Jorge Blasco have also been impressive with each of them having won seven of their last nine contests.
Bethune-Cookman travels to Orlando with a 12-10 record and has won seven of its last 10 matches. This includes three wins against nationally ranked top-30 opponents. The Wildcats dropped a 5-2 decision to Missouri-Kansas City in their last match on Thursday.
UCF is a perfect 11-0 all-time versus in-state rival Bethune-Cookman. The Knights blanked the Wildcats 7-0 in 2011 in their last meeting.
