ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF novice rowing team shined on Saturday as the Knights held their only home regatta of the year at the UCF Intercollegiate Rowing Center on Lake Pickett.

The Knights' novice 8 boat consisting of coxswain Kristy Peck, Alexa Ronelli, Christa Bergquest, Amy Compare, Andrea Hebditch, Adrianna Chimelis, Ashley Flowers, Heidi Seymour and Jamie Peck competed against the 3rd varsity from Northeastern as well as two novice boats from Florida and earned a big victory with a time of 7:07.2.

"I couldn't be happier for our group of freshmen," UCF novice coach Tracey Tallman said. "They had a short turnaround from last week's races and responded wonderfully. To come out against a quality program like Northeastern and earn a victory against their V3 is a testament to all the hard work they put in every day at practice."

In the first race of the day at 9 a.m., UCF's varsity 8 finished in second place with a time of 6:48.7. The Knights' 2nd varsity also came in as a runner up with a time of 7:03.7. In the final race of the day at 10 a.m., the Black and Gold's varsity 4 finished third at 8:02.1.

After the races, UCF rowing head coach Becky Cramer honored each of her four seniors, Shelby Flynn, Heather Hart, Nicole Lacek and Kelly Thiele, by giving them each a bouquet of flowers in a Senior Day celebration.
