ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF women's basketball senior forward Kayli Keough was selected to the Conference USA All-Academic Team Thursday. In addition to earning the honor for the second-straight season, Keough once again boasts the highest grade-point average (3.98) among her peers.
In order to be eligible for the distinction, nominees must hold a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA, be a starter or key reserve for their team and be of sophomore academic standing.
Keough, who has already earned her bachelor's degree in sociology and is pursuing her second degree in psychology, intends to study law following graduation in May.
She earned the Order of Pegasus in February, the most prestigious and significant student award that can be attained at UCF. Keough is one of 19 in a student body of nearly 60,000 and is the only current UCF student-athlete to earn the honor this year.
She was named to the 2012 C-USA All-Academic Team and serves on the UCF CARE Team that promotes the well-being of student-athletes through peer education. She was also appointed to Captains Council.
Keough averages 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game this season and recorded her first career double-double this year at Southern Miss.
She is joined by Memphis' Bilqis Abdul-Qaadir (3.71 GPA); Rice's Jessica Goswitz (3.46 GPA); Tulsa's Tiffani Cousinard (3.723 GPA); UAB's Amber Jones (3.67 GPA) and UTEP's Kelli Willingham (3.78 GPA).
