ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF guard Briahanna Jackson earned her third Conference USA Freshman of the Week appointment on Monday. She has now matched Memphis' Ariel Hearn for the most distinctions by a single freshman in the league this year.
The Tampa, Fla., native broke the freshman record for C-USA's single-season steals mark last week. Her season total of 94, which is nine shy of UCF's all-time record, surpassed the 15-year-old record of 92.
In addition, she averaged 20.5 points per game, leading the Knights in scoring in their victories over Houston and Marshall. She matched her season highs in both 3-pointers (5) and assists (7) against the Cougars before filling the stat sheet again against the Thundering Herd with 19 points, six rebounds, five assists and just one turnover.
Jackson is the only other Knight besides Emma Cannon (2009) to win three weekly conference accolades in a single season. She currently leads all freshmen in the conference for points (14.7) and steals (3.24) per game.
The Knights (13-16, 7-8) will close out the season at UAB (17-11, 8-7) Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the game via All-Access or tune into Scott Adams' free audio broadcast. Live stats are also available via Gametracker.
