LAKE WORTH, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 39 UCF men's golf team moved into the lead at the FAU Spring Break Championship Saturday at The Fountains Country Club. In addition, Knight junior Greg Eason shot a simmering 4-under 67 Saturday to vault into the individual lead for the event.
As a team, the Knights recorded the only under-par round of the day as a team, shooting a team total of 282 (-2).
For the tournament, UCF is now 3-over and holds an eight-stroke lead over second-place Hartford. Florida Atlantic is 10 strokes off the lead in third, while Bethune-Cookman is fourth at +15 and Florida Gulf Coast is fifth at 17-over.
In addition to Eason leading the tournament, junior Ricardo Gouveia is now in a tie for third place as an individual. He was 3-under for the day Saturday and is -2 for the tournament. Jose Joia is tied for 12th at 2-over, after shooting an even-par 71 Saturday. Rounding out the UCF scoring was Kyle Wilshire, who is 9-over for the tournament. McCabe Buege is also taking part for the Knights and currently sits in a tie for 50th at 10-over.
