UCF Rowing Earns Third-Consecutive Robin Yeuell Trophy at Metro Cup

WINTER PARK, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With challenging tailwinds increasing as the day went on, the UCF novice rowing team stood out as it began the 2013 spring season strong by claiming its third-consecutive Robin Yeuell Trophy Saturday at the 33nd Annual Metro Cup Regatta.

Winds were swirling with the WN4 facing at 10 mph tail, the WV4 with a 15 mph tail and the WV8 with a 20 mph cross-tail.

In the first race of the day at 8:45 a.m., UCF's College Women 2nd/Novice 4 had a lineup change with Heidi Seymour replacing Elise Heron in seat 2. Seymour along with Kristy Peck, Alex McManus, Rachel diMonda and Niki Patterson got things started off right for the Knights as they defeated Rollins with a time of 7:54.9.

The Black and Gold again shined in the College Women 1st 4 at 10 a.m. with a squad consisting of Angela Zanicchi, Alexa Ronelli, Christa Bergquist, Amy Compare and Andrea Hebditch earning the second race victory of the day by topping the Tars in 7:34.4.

Returning in the 11:15 a.m. Women's Varsity 8+, the Knights finished ahead of host Rollins with a time of 6:57.4 for a third-consecutive finish with a boat consisting of Peck, Ronelli, Bergquist, Hebditch, Compare, Seymour, Adrianna Chimelis, Ashley Flowers and Jamie Peck.

The entire team will return to action next week in the only home meet of the year as the varsity and novice race against Northeastern with the novice crew also taking on Florida.
