ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - For its last big road trip of the regular season, the No. 72 UCF women's tennis team travels to the state of North Carolina this weekend. The Knights will face East Carolina Friday at 10 a.m. before visiting UNC Wilmington Sunday at noon.
Earlier this week, UCF received its first national ranking since the end of the 2011 season. That year, the Black and Gold climbed as high as No. 68.
The Knights are currently 10-5 and have won their last three outings. Freshman Caroline Eberhart carries a 22-7 singles record, which is tied for the eighth-most wins in UCF history. The record for most singles victories in a single season stands at 28 by Hadas Ronen when she was a freshman in 1996-97.
Also streaking has been Sofia Baptista as she has posted a win in three-straight matches, and Genevieve Lorbergs continues her dominant play by holding a 10-4 record at the No. 1 singles position.
ECU boasts a 10-6 record, and has an impressive 12-4 mark at No. 2 singles and an 11-5 record at No. 3. Meanwhile, UNC Wilmington is 8-5 on the year, and will take on Old Dominion and Delaware this week before facing the Knights.
All-time, UCF holds a 5-0 record vs. East Carolina and a 2-0 mark vs. UNC Wilmington.
Following the road trip, UCF will be home April 6 to take on DePaul at 2 p.m. It will be USTA Campus Kids Day at the courts, and beginning at 4 p.m., there will be inflatables, popcorn, games with the student-athletes, autographs and a rally towel giveaway.
