ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Totaling nine hits and seven RBI in five games, UCF baseball outfielder Parker Webster was named Conference USA's Hitter of the Week after the Knights (17-9, 3-0) completed a road sweep at UAB to kick off C-USA play.
This is the third league honor for UCF this year as James Vasquez (Feb. 25) and Zac Favre (March 18) were also recognized for their stellar efforts.
Webster was the lone Knight to record a hit in all five of UCF's games, including four two-hit performances (one at Jacksonville and all three games of the series sweep of UAB in Birmingham).
The Sandy, Utah, native continually found gaps in the defense with four doubles in five games.
At UAB, Webster struck for a pair of two-run, two-out doubles in the fifth innings of both Friday and Saturday's contests. His second RBI of the day Sunday gave the Knights the victory in 10 innings to ensure the sweep.
When in the lineup for the Knights this year, Webster has notched a hit in 14-of-19 games, and ranks third on the squad with a .313 batting average and 18 RBI.
Webster and the Knights turn their attention to Southern Miss who pays a visit to the UCF baseball complex this weekend. Both teams will play Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. prior to Saturday's 12:30 matinee.
There will be plenty of promotions at the park during the homestand with $1 hot dogs and Coke products all game on Thursday followed by Country Knight on Friday with a pair of Taylor Swift concert tickets up for grabs. On Saturday, children are encouraged to take part in an Easter-egg hunt with appearances by Knightro and the Easter Bunny prior to the series finale.
