ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Not even a rain storm could dampen freshman Anne-Marie Blaney's spirited drive in the final race of Friday night's UCF Invitational.

Inclement weather rolled into Orlando and caused a lightning delay just before the track races were set to start. Although action picked back up, the rain stayed steady well into the 10,000- meter finale. But Blaney sped right along to her second freshman record of the outdoor season with first-place finish of 35:39.76. She finished roughly four minutes ahead of Georgia State's Jennifer Rubel with a performance currently paces the NCAA on the young season.

UCF's long jumpers dominated, as well, by sweeping the top-three finishes of the day with performances that bumped them up in this season's NCAA leaderboard. Junior Jen Clayton recorded her best jump since May 2011 with a first-place mark of 6.17m/20-03 (+0.1), which ranks second in the NCAA.

Sonnisha Williams improved upon her performance from last week to jump to No. 3 in the NCAA with a runner-up leap of 6.14m/20-01.75 (+0.9). Freshman Alexis Faulknor made huge strides with an all-conditions personal best 6.09m/19-11.75 (+2.4) for third place and the sixth-best mark in the country.

Freshman Shemael Hamilton won the first heat despite facing a headwind and finished seventh overall with a mark of 5.74m/18-10.00 (-0.5).

UCF saw two throwers hurl personal bests in the hammer throw while Precious Ogunleye led the team in the event for the second-straight week. Ogunleye placed fifth with a throw of 54.11m/177-06. Destinee Romain erased her former PR by roughly 15 feet to finish eighth with a mark of 53.15m/174-04 and Kalen Hambrick followed not far behind in ninth with her new personal best, 50.97m/167-03.

Competing in the final home meet of her career, Erica Weiss finished third in the pole vault with a much improved performance from the season opener, hitting 3.65m/11-11.75. Day two of the meet will begin Saturday at 9 a.m. with the women's discus. UCF will also recognize its senior class of sprinter Amanda Leland, Williams, hurdler Lutisha Bowen and Weiss. The meet is UCF's final home competition of the season.

UCF's meet central page is the place to find information pertaining to the event, including parking, directions, heat sheets, results and a full schedule. Admission is free to the public.

Live results from the meet are expected to be available and can be accessed through halfmiletiming.com.
