ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF softball team kicks off a five-game homestand this week as it returns to action for a Wednesday doubleheader against Monmouth, N.J. beginning at 4 p.m. at the UCF Softball Complex.
The Knights enter the game at 16-14and earned their first conference victory of the season with a 4-3 triumph over Houston last Saturday. Both of Wednesday's contests against the Eagles (8-3) will be "Dollar Knights" with $1 hot dogs and Coke products all game long.
UCF is 1-0 all-time against Monmouth, earning a wild 11-10 victory in 2011. The last time the two teams played, the Knights rode a seventh-inning, two-run homer by senior Abby McClain to a come-from-behind victory. UCF set season highs for runs and hits in that contest.
Offensively, the Hawks are led by senior Kate Kuzma who leads the team with a five home runs and 14 RBI in just 10 starts. As a team, Monmouth is hitting .294 and is average 6.5 runs per contest.
The Black and Gold will play two of its remaining 12 home games tomorrow, with season tickets for the remainder of the 2013 season costing only $30.
