Knights Take Fifth at Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - The No. 41-ranked UCF men's golf team took fifth place in a strong, 15-team field at the Schenkel Invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club Sunday. The Knights finished 13-over for the tournament, which was won by No. 4 Alabama (-16).

For the tournament, UCF picked up victories over No. 25 North Texas and No. 28 Vanderbilt. The Knights also defeated Southeastern Conference foes Kentucky and Mississippi, while picking up wins over Atlantic Coast Conference teams Virginia and Maryland.

Greg Eason, who is ranked No. 24 in the nation as an individual, paced UCF and picked up his third Top-10 finish of the season. He was 1-under for the tournament. Eason notched victories over 10 Top 100 golfers in the event. Alabama's Justin Thomas (-9) won medalist honors for the event.

Kyle Wilshire had a great round Sunday, shooting a 3-under 69 for the day. That performance moved him from 42nd place at the beginning of the final round to a tie for 16th overall and left him at 3-over for the tournament. Jose Joia finished in a tie for 30th and was +6 for the event. Ricardo Gouveia finished 7-over and tied for 36th place to round out UCF's scoring players. McCabe Buege also took part for the Knights.

UCF will be in action again March 29-30 at the FAU Spring Break Championship in Lake Worth, Fla.
