STATESBORO, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - For the second straight day, a UCF men's golfer put up a score of 4-under at the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
The Knights were led Saturday by Greg Eason, who put together a six-birdie, two-bogey day to fire a 68 for the day. Combined with his first-round 74, Eason is -2 for the tournament and sits in a tie for sixth place. As a team, the Knights are tied for fifth place heading into Sunday's final round.
No. 42-ranked UCF is 9-over for the tournament. The Knights are just one stroke out of fourth place and only four strokes out of third after two rounds of play. UCF trails only No. 4 Alabama (-13), No. 6 Texas (-11), No. 8 Florida (+5) and Maryland (+8). The Knights are currently tied with No. 16 North Florida.
Jose Joia, who shot a 4-under 68 on Friday is tied for 26th and sits at 3-over for the tournament. Ricardo Gouveia is 4-over for the tournament, after going +2 in each of the first two rounds. He is in a tie for 32nd. Kyle Wilshire (+6) shot back-to-back scores of 75 in the first two rounds to sit in a tie for 42nd place and round out the Knights' scoring. McCabe Buege is also taking part for UCF. He is +11 for the tournament and is currently tied for 74th place.
The final round of the Schenkel Invitational is slated for Sunday morning at Forest Heights Country Club.
