HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's golf team is in eighth place, but just five strokes back of the leaders, at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at the Long Cove Club. The Knights carded a 14-over score in Friday's first round.
The Knights, who entered the tournament ranked No. 42 in the nation by Golfstat, are just one stroke out of a tie for fifth place in what is a tight top of the leaderboard. No. 8 Arkansas leads the way at 9-over, while No. 3 North Carolina and No. 35 LSU are tied for second at +11. No. 11 Vanderbilt is fourth at +12, while there is a three-team tie between No. 4 Alabama, No. 29 Tennessee and No. 17 Arizona State in fifth, one stroke ahead of the Knights, at 13-over.
Paola Robles led the way for UCF Friday. The freshman from Puerto Rico was 2-over (73) Friday and sits in a tie for eighth place after the first round. Robyn Doig and Monifa Sealy are tied for 18th with a 3-over total of 74. Carolin Pinegger (77, +6) rounded out the top four and the scoring for the Knights.
Kaitlyn Price is also taking part for UCF and tallied a 9-over total of 80 to sit in a tie for 57th. Playing as an individual, Mary Mulcahy shot a 10-over total and is in a tie for 63rd.
