GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) -- The UCF men's golf team completed play at the first two rounds of the SunTrust Gator Invitational Saturday at the Marc Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida. UCF sits in a tie for 10th place after 36 holes of play.
The Knights put together scores of 292 (+12) and 288 (+8) to finish the day with a 20-over-par total of 560. Florida State leads the team competition with a 1-over par, two-round total of 561. Florida and North Florida are each nine strokes back and tied for second place with one round remaining to play.
Ricardo Gouveia led the way for UCF. He shot an even-par 70 in the first round and finished the day 2-over, after firing a 72 in the second round. Gouveia sits tied for 12th place, six strokes off the lead which is currently held by Georgia Southern's Scott Wolfe (70-66-136, -4).
Greg Eason is tied for 32nd after shooting a first-round 75 (+5) and closing the second round with an even-par 70 to sit at 5-over for the tournament. McCabe Buege (73-75-148, +8) is tied for 50th, while Kyle Wilshire (78-71-149, +9) is tied for 56th. Jose Joia (74-77-151, +11) rounded out the Knights lineup in a tie for 65th.
The 14-team tournament will wrap up Sunday. The final round is slated to begin at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, while the Knights will tee off at 8:30 a.m.
