ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team hit a wall in the second half that it couldn't break down Sunday in its 56-41 loss to East Carolina. The Knights (11-16, 5-8) stalled offensively as the Pirates (19-7, 9-4) used a 21-9 run to steal their first win at UCF Arena in five years.

Senior Gevenia Carter led her team in scoring for the fourth-straight game with a game-high 15 points, hitting her longest stretch of consecutive double-digit outings (7) in her career. Junior forward Erika Jones contributed a game-high 16 rebounds.

After ECU hopped out to an 8-3 lead thanks in part to two 3-conseuctive pointers from Whitny Edwards, UCF strung together 10 unanswered points capped by freshman Briahanna Jackson's layup with 10:25 to go.

The Knights pushed their lead to as large as 20-13 after Jones grabbed an offensive board inside the paint and put it back with five minutes to go in the first.

The Pirates closed out the half on an 11-0 run that ended with an impressive 3-point shot near half court from Kyani White off an inbounds play with 2 seconds to go. The high arced attempt hit nothing but net to beat the buzzer for a 24-20 edge.

UCF never found its groove in the second half as ECU sank the first two baskets and never looked back, holding the Knights to their lowest point total of the season.

The Knights will host Senior Night on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Houston in their final home game of the season. Tickets are currently available by calling (407) UCF-1000 or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
