Tournament Notes

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - To say it has been awhile since the UCF baseball team has hosted a regular-season tournament would be an understatement. The Knights (2-2) welcome UConn, Texas Tech and Troy for the Wawa Weekend Classic beginning Friday at noon.

It will be the first on-campus regular-season tournament for the Knights since the 1993 UCF Classic.

Tickets for this weekend can be found here. They feature a $15 all-tournament package, which includes tickets to all six games and a souvenir t-shirt to commemorate the three-day set. Also, all the tournament links can be found at the Wawa Weekend Classic page.

Special promotions for this weekend include NASCAR Knight on Friday where fans can enter a raffle for a pair of Daytona 500 tickets. Also on Friday night, the first 200 students will receive a Wawa t-shirt.

Friday's action kicks off with a noon tilt between Texas Tech and Troy followed by the 7 p.m. nightcap with UCF taking on future BIG EAST opponent UConn. Ace RHP Ben Lively (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will get the nod once again after stifling Siena last week for six innings. He will be opposed by Huskies (1-2) LHP Anthony Marzi (0-1, 21.00 ERA) in the first matchup all-time between the two schools.

Troy and UConn will faceoff Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Knights and Red Raiders (4-0) meeting for the first time in program history at 6:30 p.m. After a stellar debut last Sunday in which he went seven innings and scattered four hits, RHP Danny Davis (1-0, 0.00 ERA) gets the call against Texas Tech RHP Corey Taylor (1-0, 1.50 ERA).

The third and final day of the Wawa Weekend Classic will pit Texas Tech and UConn against each other in the 11 a.m. matchup followed by UCF and Troy rekindling their Atlantic Sun rivalry at 3 p.m. The Knights own a 17-9 all-time edge in the series over the Trojans (4-0), with the two squads having last played May 27, 2005 in the A-Sun Tournament.

UCF will be heard on the airwaves around Orlando on 740-AM The Game Friday and Saturday night with Marc Daniels on the call. Pregame starts 15 minutes prior to first pitch. On Sunday, and as always for every UCF home game, fans can tune into All-Access to watch and hear the action from the baseball complex.

Video for non-UCF games will not be available. All the contests can be followed by using GameTracker.

Season tickets can be purchased by calling 407-UCF-1000 or visit the baseball tickets page. Stay up-to-date on all the latest news by visiting UCFAthletics.com and following the team on Twitter (@UCF_Baseball) and Facebook.
