ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) -- The UCF men's golf team will be among 10 teams ranked among college golf's top 50 taking part in next week's John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
UCF competed very well in this event last season, bringing home runner-up honors. Current team members Jose Joia and Ricardo Gouveia both recorded individual Top 15 finishes in the event in 2012. This year's event begins Sunday, with 18 holes of stroke play each day through Tuesday.
UCF will have a chance to gauge itself against Top 10 teams Florida State and Duke, while LSU and Arkansas are Top 20 teams as well. The Knights enter this tournament ranked No. 49 by Golfweek magazine. Other ranked teams taking part in this week's event are No. 26 Tennessee, No. 29 North Florida, No. 32 Tulsa, No. 37 North Texas and No. 46 Coastal Carolina.
Greg Eason, Gouveia, Joia, McCabe Buege and Kyle Wilshire will be competing in the event for the Knights. UCF's Michael Visacki will also be taking part as an individual.
