PARRISH, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Carolin Pinegger tallied her first top-10 finish of the season Tuesday. Pinegger led the way for the UCF women's golf team at the Central District Invitational at River Wilderness Golf Club, as the Knights finished the 12-team tournament in sixth place.

Pinegger carded a 2-over score of 74 Tuesday to finish 5-over for the tournament, which was good enough for a seventh-place tie. Monifa Sealy was 8-over for the Knights and finished strong in the final round, shooting an even-par 72. Robyn Doig (+14) and Kaitlyn Price (+17) finished tied for 31st and tied for 40th, respectively, to round out the UCF scoring. Paola Robles (+31) also took part for the Knights.

Carolin broke through and had a nice tournament for us, head coach Emily Marron said. We need to get our fourth score lower and focus on closing better. The rest of the spring we will continue to face the very best teams and we need to have our games a little sharper overall.

As a team, UCF improved in the third and final round. After tallying back-to-back scores of 302 in the first two rounds on Monday, the Knights carded a team total of 300 on Tuesday. UCF was +40 as a team.

We finished where we were ranked in the field so we can't be too disappointed, head coach Emily Marron said. However, we are really close to putting together some great rounds and catching those top-ranked teams.

SMU won the team title by finishing 24-over par. Augusta State's Natalie Wille won medalist honors in a scorecard playoff with Michigan State's Caroline Powers, finishing 1-under for the tournament.
