PARRISH, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Consistency was the name of the game for the UCF women's golf team Monday at the Central District Invitational, being held at River Wilderness Golf Club.
The Knights shot back-to-back rounds of 302 to finish the day with a two-round total of 604. Those scores put UCF at 28-over for the first two rounds and left the Knights in a tie for fourth place headed into Tuesday's third and final round.
Vanderbilt holds the team lead at +12, while the host Michigan State Spartans are in second at +14. SMU is just in front of UCF at +19. The Knights are tied for fourth with Denver.
Individually, Carolin Pinegger led the way for UCF Monday. She shot a 3-over 75 in the first round, but came back to fire an even-par 72 in the second round. Pinegger's +3 total for the first two rounds leaves her in a tie for seventh place. Kaitlyn Price (75-76 +7) is tied for 18th place. Monifa Sealy (75-77 +8) is tied for 23rd. Robyn Doig (77-77 +10) rounded out UCF's first two rounds of scoring and she sits in a tie for 34th place. Paola Robles (87-82 +25) is also competing for the Knights.
Tuesday's shotgun start to the final round of the Central District Invitational is scheduled for 8 a.m.
