ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Despite frigid and windy conditions at the UCF Tennis Complex this morning, the UCF men's tennis team was dominant, sweeping Connecticut 7-0.

The win propels the Knights above .500 for the first time all season with a 5-4 record. The team has been impressive in Orlando, finishing 4-1 during their five-match home stand.

"Solid team effort today, we need to stay sharp with some tough opponents coming up in the next few weeks," UCF head coach Bobby Cashman said.

The Black and Gold got rolling early after sweeping all-three doubles matches to clinch the point over the Huskies (1-2).

In less than an hour, Amar Hromic put away Zyann Carr. He coasted his way to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position.

At the No. 5 spot, Juan Bolona was too much for Tailer Cohen to handle, easing his way to a 6-0, 6-1 win.

Clinching the victory for the Knights was Mario Samson at the No. 6 slot. He swept past the Huskies' Zac McEntee 6-1, 6-3 for his second singles victory of the season.

Matthew Gladstone rolled to a 6-1, 6-4 win over Andrew Ginzberg at the No. 5 position, while Jose Sangroniz was sharp during his triumph over Uconn's Mark Hosang, 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 3 spot.

Jorge Blasco needed a third set to keep the sweep intact, defeating Wayne Harrell, 6-3, 4-6, 10-6 at the No. 1 position to conclude the home stand.

The Knights will be on the road for the next five matches, with a trip to Statesboro, Ga., up next. UCF will dual Conference USA foe East Carolina Saturday and Georgia Southern Sunday.
