Siena 7, UCF 4

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Despite three Chris Taladay doubles, the UCF baseball team was unable to secure the series against Siena Saturday afternoon as the Saints (1-1) snapped a 16-game skid versus the Knights (1-1) with a 7-4 victory on a cool, gusty day.

UCF will look to bounce back on Sunday as junior Danny Davis makes his Knights debut with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m.

It was rough go to begin the afternoon for LHP Eric Skoglund as four of the first six Saints walked, giving Siena an early 3-0 lead. The sophomore southpaw would settle in after getting out of the first, needing just nine and seven pitches, respectively, in the second and third frames.

The UCF offense got going in the third by JoMarcos Woods (2-for-5) who dropped a single into left field and stole the first base of the year for the Knights. The scintillating Taladay (3-for-3, 1 RBI) put the Knights into the scoring column with his second double of the day while fellow senior Jeramy Matos (1-for-4, 2 RBI) drove in his second run of the year on a sacrifice fly.

Siena would respond with three more in the top of the fourth, however, taking advantage of some defensive lapses by the Knights.

UCF had its chances to get back in the game, but came up empty handed in the sixth and seventh as a double play and fly out left the bases loaded in respective frames.

A ninth-inning rally featuring back-to-back doubles by Taladay and Matos would bring the Knights within three before Saints' relief pitcher Neil Fryer shut the door.
