ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF women's basketball team begins the second half of league play this Sunday against Memphis at 2 p.m. on Knights for Education day.
Up to four people can be admitted with a special UCF women's basketball bookmark, which was passed out to students at most East Orange County elementary and middle Schools and can also be picked up at B2 Cafe, CB&S Bookstore, both UCF Barnes and Noble locations and UCF Federal Credit Union.
Prior to the game, kids are welcome to enjoy free fun outside of UCF Arena with animal balloons and face painting beginning at 1 p.m. UCF rally towels will be given to the first 1,000 fans in attendance.
Prizes, including five $50 Barnes and Noble gift cards, will be awarded during the game. UCF students are eligible to win an Apple iPad and free passes to Busch Gardens. Following the game, children are welcome to participate in an on-court shootaround and a team autograph session.
The Knights (7-14, 1-6) hold a slight 9-8 edge in the all-time series over the Tigers (13-9, 4-4) thanks to their win at Memphis earlier this year. In that game, junior forward Erika Jones led three Knights in double figures with her first double-double of the year thanks to a career-high 18 points and season-high 17 rebounds. UCF is looking for its first sweep over Memphis since 2009.
Sunday's game will feature the top-two scoring freshmen in the league: UCF's Briahanna Jackson and Memphis' Ariel Hearn.
Memphis comes to Orlando after a week's break from game action. The Tigers hold a 1-3 record on the road this year in conference play. Senior forward Nicole Dickson leads not only her team but Conference USA, as well, in scoring with an average of 20 points per game.
