ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - As the No. 9 UCF track and field team gears up for its final weekend of competition before the postseason, the Knights continue to receive good news. Sprinter Aurieyall Scott received mention on the watch list for track and field's highest honor, the Bowerman Award, on Thursday.
The Bowerman, which debuted in 2009, is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female collegiate track and field athletes in the nation. Scott is the second Knight to garner attention for the award as fellow sprinter Octavious Freeman received mention on this year's preseason list.
Both Scott and Freeman are slated to compete this Friday and Saturday at Arkansas' Razorback Invitational along with some of their teammates while other members of the team will be in action at Clemson's Tiger Paw Invitational.
The Tiger Paw Invitational will host more than 1,300 athletes at the school's indoor complex. It is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Friday with the 60 meters and high jump. Live results are available via TimingInc.com.
The Tyson Invitational will begin at 1 p.m. Friday with the mile, long jump and pole vault. Live results are available via Flash Results. A video stream of the meet is available through RazorVision for a fee, and fans can follow the hashtag #TysonInv on Twitter.
