ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Following a pair of 20-point performances, Isaiah Sykes of the UCF men's basketball team was selected as the Conference USA Player of the Week Monday. The junior guard averaged 22.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in wins over Rice and SMU last week.

Sykes, who has registered three-straight 20-point performances, shot 51.9 percent from the floor and made 16-of-19 (84.2 percent) of his free-throw attempts in the league victories.

The Detroit native began the week with 24 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks against Rice. Sykes made 7-of-13 field goals and went 9-of-10 at the line. He followed that performance with a double-double against SMU with 21 points and 10 boards. He connected on 7-of-14 shots versus the Mustangs and went 7-of-9 at the line.

Sykes is averaging 16.4 points in league play, good for third in C-USA, and has helped the Knights (14-5, 4-1) record three-consecutive wins. He is averaging 15.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game on the year.

"Isaiah is such a tough player and is well deserving of this honor," UCF head coach Donnie Jones said. "He has done a great job making plays and is playing some great basketball right now."

The C-USA Player of the Week honor is the second of the year for Sykes. UCF players have combined to win a league-high four awards in 2012-13.
