ORLANDO, Florida (UCFAthletics.com) - The annual UCF baseball Fan Fest was once again a great success as over 1,000 fans passed through The Venue to meet the entire baseball program as it gears up for the 2013 campaign. Following the men's basketball win over SMU, supporters arrived to take in the food, games and prizes.
While participants of all ages took part in the "Guess Your Pitch" and "Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby" games, head coach Terry Rooney had his entire support staff and players making the rounds and autographing baseballs and schedule posters while chatting with those in attendance.
Redshirt senior Erik Hempe was one of the many Knights who enjoyed his time meeting fans inside The Venue.
It's awesome to see a lot of familiar faces that I have seen in the past and a lot of new people. We had great support out here, and I think we are going to have a great following through the season, Hempe said.
The Anaheim, Calif., native and the rest of the Knights are looking forward to the 2013 season and Opening Knight that is less than one three weeks away on Feb. 15 at 6:30 p.m. against Siena.
I'm anxious, Hempe continued. I'm starting to lose sleep over it. I missed the whole year last year, and I'm just ready to get out there.
The Diamond Girls could also be found in The Venue and will be seen around the UCF baseball complex for every home game, including five ladies that will be on the field retrieving bats and foul balls at each contest.
Season tickets and a variety of ticket packages for the baseball season are still available by calling the UCF ticket office at (407) 823-1000, or by visiting UCFAthletics.com.
