ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's basketball team will return to action Saturday when the Knights head to Texas to face host Houston. The Conference USA contest at Hofheinz Pavilion will begin at 6 p.m. Eastern.
UCF (11-5, 1-1 C-USA) will be playing for the first time in a week. In the Knights' last game, Keith Clanton scored a career-high 36 points at East Carolina Saturday. The senior, who is second in the league in scoring at 17.8 points per game, was selected as the C-USA Player of the Week Monday for the second time this year. Clanton is also second in the conference and seventh nationally in field-goal percentage (63.4). Tristan Spurlock also excelled at East Carolina, totaling a career-best 23 points to go with 11 rebounds for the double-double.
"It has been good for our team," UCF head coach Donnie Jones said of the Knights' bye this past Wednesday. "It has given us a chance to work on some things that we can always get better at. It's been good to practice this week."
Houston is 12-4 overall and 1-2 in C-USA play. The Cougars, who are 9-1 at home in 2012-13, have two of the top scorers in the conference in Joseph Young (17.2) and TaShawn Thomas (16.3).
The contest will air on the UCF IMG Sports Network and its flagship station, 740 The Game in Orlando, with Marc Daniels on the call. Pregame coverage begins at 5:30 p.m. Live video, audio and statistics will be available at UCFAthletics.com.
After facing the Cougars, the Knights will return to Orlando and open a two-game homestand Wednesday against Rice.
