ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With classes back in session and the spring semester now in full swing, the UCF women's tennis spring season also will be getting underway this month. The Knights will be hosting the UCF Invitational Saturday-Monday, Jan. 19-21, and host Florida State, Furman and Iowa.

The event features free admission for each session at the UCF Tennis Complex.

UCF competed in four tournaments in the fall, and finished with a combined 45-29 singles record as well as a 17-15 doubles mark. Caroline Eberhart and Josephine Haraldson tied for the team lead with seven singles victories. Right behind that duo was Jenna Doerfler and Courtney Griffith with six apiece.

Florida State enters the spring ranked No. 38 in the nation, with Daneika Borthwick (No. 35), Mia Vriens (No. 48), Francesca Segarelli (No. 73) and Amy Sargeant (No. 100) all ranked in singles. A few Knights faced the Seminoles at the ITA Regionals and Florida State Championships in October and November, and the two teams will square off in dual-match play in Tallahassee Feb. 15.

Led by No. 68 Lauren Kline, Furman will be making its first of two trips to the UCF campus, as it also will clash with the Knights in the dual-match season Feb. 9 at noon. UCF and Furman have not met in a dual-match since 1992.

Iowa, meanwhile, went 41-31 in the fall in singles, with Annette Dohanics going 8-2. She teamed up with Ellen Silver for a 4-1 record on the doubles court. The two programs will not battle it out on the dual-match schedule, but the Hawkeyes were in Orlando in March 2012 when they edged the Knights, 4-3.

UCF's dual-match season will begin Jan. 25 against Bethune-Cookman.
